In recent years, SugarCity Events has flourished from a former sugar factory into today’s leading event venue. The venue’s exquisite industrial decor – retained from its days as a factory – makes the location truly unique. Thanks to its impressive, high ceilinged atriums, SugarCity Events can host events for as few as 2 guests, up to large-scale events for 4,500 guests.

SugarCity still exudes the authentic vibe of the former sugar factory, which operated here from 1893 until 1992. Dominated by its stunning, rusty coppers, the Middenfabriek (‘Middle Factory’) is pervaded with history. The unique staircases reach skywards, connecting the ground floor (2,000 m2) with the two main floors (1,525 and 1,725 m2). Thanks to the dedicated car lift, these floors are also accessible to vehicles and other large objects. A third floor has also been developed to make optimal use of the venue’s unique height; this space is ideally suited to smaller-scale events.
With its striking pillars, brick walls and high rows of windows, the 1,000 m2 Pulppersloods (‘Pulper Shed’) is the perfect backdrop to a variety of events. The two large venues are connected by the Binnenstraat (985 m2). This space can be used as a reception area, but with its characteristic features, can also serve as a venue in its own right. In addition to these three event venues, SugarCity also offers numerous smaller spaces that are ideal for holding presentations or for use as break-out rooms, control rooms and so forth.

SugarCity is still working hard to optimise the potential of this unique, historical location. The sustainable approach means that they can reuse many original materials, so that the charm of the factory remains intact. That being said, the rusty pillars now conceal 575 LED fittings, which provide the standard lighting in the venue. The SugarCity event location is authentic, raw and rusty, but equipped with a full range of modern facilities and technology.

SugarCity is located in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. It’s extremely central location means that it offers outstanding accessibility: Amsterdam, Haarlem and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol are all just ten minutes’ drive away. The 400 on-site parking spaces are reserved exclusively for the guests. SugarCity also offers excellent public transport accessibility: a bus stop and NS railway station are located directly next to the venue.
